There are many advantages to using a cloud-based testing lab – 24/7 support, an always-on environment, enterprise-level security. But let’s not forget about access to new devices on the day they’re available in stores. Today’s the day for you to test iPhone 7 and 7 Plus inside Perfecto’s CQ Lab.

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are officially available in Perfecto’s cloud.

We’re excited to share that Apple’s latest and greatest are up and running in Perfecto’s Continuous Quality Lab and officially available for testing your apps against various user conditions. We were able to get the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus accessible in the Perfecto cloud two hours after they became available to the public. The CQ Lab also supports Apple’s newly-released iOS 10.

iPhone 7/iOS 10 availability in our cloud continues our reliable track record of offering same-day access to devices and OSes. See table below.

iPhone 7 release

iPhone 7 and iOS 10 disrupt mobile testing

For developers and testers, the new Apple releases will force teams to adjust testing strategies. Apple has decided to make certain iPads, iPods and iPhones obsolete. iPad 2, iPad 3rd gen, iPad mini, iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 5th gen will not be able to upgrade to iOS 10 or above. This means teams will need to support the new iPhone 7/7 Plus along with other Apple devices that can run iOS 10. Additionally, they’ll need to reserve a portion of testing for iOS 9 for the older devices. This may slow down testing activities and require test automation so tests can be easily executed on devices running iOS 9 and iOS 10.

But now is the time to get testing on iPhone 7, 7 Plus and iOS 10. We recommend you start right now (before your customers start using them). iOS 10 is gaining momentum — it’s already reached 15% market share and with iPhone 7 now generally available, that growth will only continue.
